D.A.R.E.

In her drawings and installations, Sabina Streeter utilizes cinematic references deriving from her archive of European photo novellas, as well as from Italian neo-realist Cinema of the early 1960's. 

Streeter's drawings often appear as frozen images from cult films such as Fellini's "La Dolce Vita", Antonioni's "L'Avventura", and Klaus Lemke's "Forty-Eight Hours to Acapulco". 

The characters in these pieces seem to vacillate between trivial reality and narrative tragedy. The skillful elegance of her drawing line accentuates the cool detachment and sophistication of her work as the spectator is drawn in by her suggestive undertones that invoke melodramatic imagery, and the shadowy underbelly of glamour.
